The aorta and the aortic valve are an anatomical continuum and many patients have diseases involving both structures. The management of these patients is evolving rapidly and close collaboration between clinical cardiologists, imaging experts, interventional cardiologists, vascular surgeons and cardiac surgeons is of the utmost importance. The course “Aorta and the Aortic Valve 2010” results from combining two symposia: “Aortic Valve Disease: An Update” and “IX Advances in Understanding Aortic Diseases”. We believe that this integrated approach will be an excellent opportunity for discussion among all specialists dealing with these challenging patients.
